This is the story of audit professional Jannemieke Aarts (29). She shares her moment of insight and explains why this is the place for talents like you.<\/p>\n

“Being able to walk my own path and grow in my own way keeps the work exciting and innovative.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Never a dull moment<\/h3>\n

Five years ago, Jannemieke started as an assistant manager. Since then, she has become an Audit Manager, and no day is ever the same with her. \u201cEvery week I visit different clients and spend time in the office and have development meetings with my team.\u201d But what makes her work really special is the freedom to discover new things and to continuously develop herself. \u201cAt Qconcepts I get the space to teach one day a week at Nyenrode. \u201cI get the opportunity to further develop myself in the areas I\u2019m good at and that I get energy from, as well as continue to strengthen areas I am working on improving.<\/p>\n

Bull’s-eye<\/h3>\n

As an audit manager, Jannemieke was working full-time with clients. \u201cAt some point I wanted more, and teaching didn\u2019t come completely out of the blue. At Q I was already developing a traineeship to train starters to become senior professionals. I mentor trainees and the program I set up has become a regular part of our company.\u201d When she ended up at Nyenrode, it turned out to be a perfect match. \u201cIt\u2019s great to have that opportunity at Q and to be able to follow my passion.\u201d<\/p>\n

Dusty and dull or exciting and energizing?<\/h3>\n

Is accountancy dusty and dull or can it be exciting and energizing? That\u2019s the first thing Jannemieke wants to impart on her students. \u201cThe image of the accountant sitting alone behind a desk typing away still exists, but that’s not what we do. Instead, we’re on the road a lot, visiting different companies and meeting all kinds of people. I enjoy meeting and talking with people, and in this profession I get to do that all day long. Accountancy really is a dynamic profession.\u201d Additionally, she also learns from the students. \u201cSometimes I\u2019ve been doing something the same way for years. When students ask me about that, I am challenged to look at it differently.\u201d<\/p>\n

You can count on your colleagues.<\/h3>\n

Back to Q. Now you may be thinking, “it all sounds nice, but who works at Q”? Jannemieke: \u201cWe are all young, enterprising senior professionals. Everyone is driven and enthusiastic, just like me. And because we work in self-managing teams and choose our own engagements, everyone does what he or she enjoys. Every time I walk into my office and see my smiling colleagues, I think: yes, this is all I need.\u201d<\/p>\n
